The Eastern Partnership shares mutual interests for the benefit of its citizens and has a vision to bring the six neighbours closer to the EU.
As part of its digital agenda the Eastern Partnership recognises the importance of e-Infrastructures in:

  • promoting digital inclusion;
  • stopping brain drain;
  • procuring and federating access to high-quality scientific content:
  • enabling participation of EaP countries in Horizon2020 projects:
  • EaPConnect will realise this vision for the research and education community across the region and beyond.

Learn more about The EaPConnect Project from here

By interconnecting the R&E communities across the region and with their European counterparts, EaPConnect creates a gateway for talented individuals in the EaP countries to be truly global players.
These state-of-the-art e-infrastructures support critical scientific work and allow participation in regional and international research programmes such as Horizon 2020. The end result will be an extension of the global scientific knowledge as well as advances and breakthroughs in education and research areas such as particle physics, climate change or disaster prevention to cite a few.

GÉANT is a fundamental element of Europe’s e-infrastructure, delivering the pan-European GÉANT network for scientific excellence, research, education and innovation. Through its integrated catalogue of connectivity, collaboration and identity services, GÉANT provides users with highly reliable, unconstrained access to computing, analysis, storage, applications and other resources, to ensure that Europe remains at the forefront of research.

EaPConnect Services
in Belarus
supported by BASNET

Education roaming (eduroam)is the secure, world-wide roaming access service developed for the international research and education community. Having started in Europe, eduroam has gained momentum throughout the research and education community and is now available in 80 territories worldwide.

eduroam allows students, researchers and staff from participating institutions to obtain internet connectivity across campus and when visiting other participating institutions by simply opening their laptop or activating their device.

performance Service Oriented Network monitoring ARchitecture (perfSONAR) is a network measurement toolkit for running performance tests across multiple domains, which helps to identify and isolate network problems. Widely used by the research and education networking community, perfSONAR is deployed on approximately 2100 publicly registered hosts, in more than 300 domains around the world (March 2017).

Trust and identity service eduGAIN is the interfederation service, interconnecting research and education identity federations around the world and simplifying access to content, services and resources for the global research and education community. With eduGAIN participants from more than 2,500 identity providers accessing services from 1,700 service providers, eduGAIN has fast become the primary mechanism to interfederate for research and education collaboration around the world. eduGAIN support, development and promotion in Europe is provided through the GÉANT (GN4 ) Project.

The LOw LAtency audio visual streaming system (LoLa) project aims to enable real time musical performances where musicians are physically located in remote sites, connected by advanced network services, like the ones provided by the NRENs and GÉANT and other international backbones.
